PNP reviews agreement with ‘Ang Probinsyano’ after policewoman rape scene

The Philippine National Police is now looking into its agreement with ABS-CBN’s top rating teleserye “Ang Probinsyano” over a scene depicting a uniformed policewoman being raped was aired this week.

Netizens and members of the police force alerted the PNP officials on the disturbing scene.

The policewoman was pinned down by two gang members and later on raped before Coco Martin arrived in the area.

“We will talk to the Production Staff of ABS CBN and look at possible violation of our existing Memorandum of Understanding. Depending on the extent of the violation, we may warn them or rescind the said MOU,” the PNP said in a statement.

Last year, the PNP had a disagreement with the “Ang Probinsyano” team over its portrayal of rogue cops.

The PNP even threatened the production team with possible charges if they would not change the plot.

The network and the police came up with an agreement and has allowed the teleserye to

depict the policemen but with supervision from the PNP.
