Dubai court doubles sentence vs manager for harassing cleaner

The Dubai Appeals Court granted the request of the prosecution to impose a heavier sentence against an Asian manager who sexually harassed a Filipina cleaner.

The court of appeals demanded the Asian manager to send six months in jail, extending the earlier three-month jailterm sentence handed by the Dubai Criminal Court, reported Gulf Today.

The 35-year-old Filipina cleaner claimed that the manager groped and kissed her when she was assigned by her cleaning services company to the suspect’s house in Jumeirah.

The Filipina recounted before the court that the suspect requested a massage to relieve his leg muscle pain, but she refused.

An hour later, the suspect started to touch her inappropriately and attempted to kiss her.

The cleaner was able to escape and informed her supervisor about the incident. She immediately filed a complaint at the Bur Dubai Police Station.

Medicolegal showed that the Filipina sustained injuries on her hand.
It was later revealed that the suspect was once convicted and deported for the same offense.

After serving his sentence, the manager is set to be deported back to his home country.
