OFW in Saudi almost loses eyesight due to physical abuse

An overseas Filipina worker (OFW) from Saudi Arabia almost lost her eyesight after suffering from physical abuse from her employer.

According to OFW Lovebella Abcede, her employer, who also owns the OFW’s recruitment agency in Saudi, told her that she will be sent home after not following her rules. When the OFW asked to be transferred to another employer instead, her employer slapped and punched her, reported GMA News.

Abcede said that her employer also attempted to stab her in her eye using a pen.

Despite her employer’s instructions not to tell anyone what happened, Abcede stopped by the Consulate office to report her case before catching her flight to the Philippines.

Labor Attache Nasser Munder assured Abcede that the recruitment agency’s accreditation will be cancelled and that justice will be served for the OFW.
