Commuters in Sharjah can now access the internet while waiting for their bus rides or while riding a bus on their way to their destination, the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority announced.
Mohammed Abdullah Al Buraimi, director of technical services and acting director of IT department at Sharjah RTA, said that the free Wi-Fi service is available at Al Jubail Bus Station and 50 buses operating in the emirate.
Al Buraimi said that commuters do not need to create accounts or give their e-mails to access the service. Commuters simply need to connect to the open WiFi network.
Aside from the UAE and the emirate’s goal to transform its services to smart services, the move also seeks to encourage residents to use public transport.
