OFW couple mourns two children killed in fire incident

A married couple—who are both working as OFWs in Saudi Arabi—mourned over the loss of their two children who died in a tragic fire incident in Jaro, Iloilo on Friday, November 2.

The couple, Manny and Freda, lost their 10-year-old and 11-year-old children after a fire broke out in their house.

Aside from their two children, Freda’s mother was also killed in the blaze.

What caused the fire remains unknown. The report said that the two children and their grandmother were sleeping on the second floor of the house when the incident happened.

According to Manny, the couple was just talking to their children over the phone on Thursday, few hours before the fire broke out. Freda was rushed to the hospital after she fainted upon learning the tragic news.

The OFW couple has been working in a private hospital in Jeddah for 15 years. Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Hans Cacdac has expressed willingness to help the Manny and Freda get back home to Iloilo.

Philippine Consulate General and Social Welfare Attache in Jeddah Priscilla Razon also promised to help the married couple.
