The Mactan Cebu-International Airport (MCIA), the Philippines’ first resort-themed airport, was hailed as one of the best airports in Southeast Asia in terms of on-time performance (OTP).
London-based air travel intelligence group OAG ranked the Philippines ninth in Southeast Asia in terms of OTP after garnering a final score of 70 percent. OTP means that flights should take off or land “strictly less than 15 minutes after scheduled departure and arrival time”. Cancelled flights are also taken into consideration.
GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation (GMCAC) President Louie Ferrer welcomed the recognition and said that the ranking was “a testament to our commitment.”
“It’s also a challenge for us to continue finding ways to deliver better, friendlier service to our stakeholders. We intend to keep doing better,” Ferrer said.
“Mactan-Cebu’s central location is the ideal jump-off point to other domestic and international destinations. We will continue to maximize this location and position Cebu as a central hub in Southeast Asia,” he added.
The top ten airports in Southeast Asia according to the survey are as follows:
