New police station on wheels soon to roll out

Dubai Police have given the public a first look at the self-driving police station vehicle which would allow residents to file complaints in the comfort of their homes.

Residents can simply ask the police through the Dubai Police app to send the self-driving police station vehicle to their homes and file their complaint there without going to the actual police station.

The initiative will be implemented in the future and is expected to help make the services of the police more efficient.

The self-driving police station vehicle is only one of the technologies displayed at the Gitex Technology Week held this month.

Other projects on display during the event include Roads and Transport Authority’s (RTA) driverless taxis, Al Merqab (e-Hail) – a system for electronic booking companies and a new generation of technical testing of vehicles based on sophisticated technologies; and the Robot Cleaner Initiative designed to clean the floors of Dubai Metro stations.

RTA also showed the new generation of real-time screens for passenger information fitted with new add-ons such as journey planning and downloading journey timetables in mobile phones, among other AI initiatives.
