Duterte talked about undocumented OFWs with Jordan’s king

Following the United Arab Emirates’ decision to grant amnesty to overstaying overseas Filipino workers (OFW), Malacañang revealed that President Rodrigo Duterte is also looking into bringing home OFWs who are staying illegally in Jordan.

During his official visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Duterte spoke to H.R.M. King Abdullah II about possible assistance for Filipinos without proper documentation, reported GMA News.

The president added that he will send over a senator or Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Allan Cayetano for the negotiations.

Duterte thanked King Abdullah “for being kind” to Filipinos.

He also said that the King is sincere because he displayed his humanity when he brought the issue of undocumented OFWs.

According to the DFA, there are about 48, 000 Filipino workers in Jordan.
