WATCH: Saudi woman teaches Pinoy martial arts to empower other women

A 20-year-old woman in Saudi Arabia is teaching Filipino martial arts to empower other women by making them equipped with the skills to protect themselves.

Reem Al-Ouda said she wanted to be able to protect herself and joined the Dojo Martial Arts School in 2013 wherein a traditional form of martial arts used by Filipino ethnic groups is taught. Al-Ouda was trained by an American trainor who has Filipino descent.

From thereon, Al-Ouda has been inspired to teach other women Filipino martial arts to empower them.

“My goal is to empower women, make them confident and able to defend themselves in case they are subjected to any form of harassment. And to apply what they learn when necessary, at the right time and place,” Al-Ouda told Al Arabiya English.
