OFW sustains burns in face, body after hot asphalt accident in Saudi

An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Saudi Arabia sustained injuries in a workplace accident involving hot asphalt.

Consul General Edgar Badajos identified the victim as 43-year-old Rudy Papilosa from Masbate City who works as a truck driver in Saudi Arabia.

Papilosa was reportedly driving the truck carrying hot asphalt when the truck accidentally overturned. The asphalt then spilled on the ground and on Papilosa.

The OFW was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where he was treated after suffering from multiple burns on his face and body.

“Naka-confine po sa ospital si Ginoong Papiloso para magpagaling pero hindi pa po namin alam kung kailan siya makakalabas,” Badajos said.

The Philippine Consulate in Jeddah is currently in coordination with Papilosa’s employer to discuss the assistance that would be given to the OFW.
