Bello: ‘Endo’ can’t be completely eradicated

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) chief Silvestre Bello III E expressed doubt that end of contract schemes or ‘endo’ will completely be eradicated in the country.

The labor secretary explained that there are companies in other industries which may have the need to hire contractual employees.

Iyon, puwede mong iksian ang season niyon, contractual iyon dahil their services are needed only for that specific season,” he added.

Bello’s statement comes barely a week after President Rodrigo Duterte announced that he has inked an executive order (EO) that will put a stop to endo schemes.

The said EO prohibits illegal contracting and subcontracting and likewise strengthens workers’ rights to security of tenure.
