When his older siblings chose to drop out from school due to financial accessibility issues, Romnick Blanco grabbed his books and walked for two hours on the hills of Sierra Madre in Bulacan for an opportunity to learn the English language.
Blanco braved the two-hour work to study English with the GreenEarth Heritage Foundation in Bulacan which encouraged him to apply for a scholarship grant at the International School of Manila (ISM).
Hard work paid off for Blanco who didn’t give up on his dreams. From trudging the muddy foothills and rivers of Sierra Madre, Blanco is now set to fly to Massachusetts to study at the prestigious Harvard University, the place that honed the likes of Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, and other successful men in the world.
His five-year stint at ISM opened the gates not only to Harvard. But he also received secure scholarship grants from Dartmouth College, Wesleyan University and New York University in Abu Dhabi.
The Harvard scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, plane tickets, and clothing.
“This amazing blessing that I have received will be looked upon by many as an achievement, but if I were to be very honest, I truthfully believe that what happened to me was nothing short of a miracle,” Danified quoted Blanco as saying.
Blanco is set to fly in to the US in 2018.
