An abandoned Filipino child who had been under the care of a child welfare institution in Jordan since August 2024 has safely returned to the Philippines, the Department of Migrant Workers said.
The child arrived Monday morning aboard Qatar Airways Flight QR934 at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 and was accompanied by officials from the Migrant Workers Office in Lebanon and Jordan and the Philippine Embassy in Jordan.
Upon arrival, the child was turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Reception and Study Center for Children, where he will receive appropriate care, protection and assistance.
The Department of Migrant Workers said the child had been staying at the Al Hussein Social Foundation in Jordan since August 2024.
According to the agency, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac and Undersecretary Jainal Rasul visited the child at the institution in August 2025. Following the visit, Cacdac directed the Assistance-to-Nationals legal team in Jordan to exhaust all efforts to facilitate the child’s safe return to the Philippines.
The DMW said the repatriation was carried out through the coordinated efforts of the Philippine government and its officials in Jordan.
