Louvre Abu Dhabi has launched its “New Highlights and Discoveries Tour” for the summer season, offering visitors a 45-minute guided journey through the museum’s four wings featuring newly acquired artworks and major international loans.
The tour showcases significant additions to the museum’s galleries, highlighting Louvre Abu Dhabi’s continued efforts to expand its collection and present diverse artistic and cultural narratives from around the world.
Among the new acquisitions are The Triumph of David, a 17th-century artwork composed of painted and gilded leather panels, a rare Kota-Obamba reliquary figure from Gabon associated with ancestral traditions, a Roman cameo connected to imperial portraiture, and a Mamluk mosque lamp symbolizing the importance of light in Islamic culture.
Visitors will also see major loaned pieces from regional and international institutions, including an Early Dilmun jar from Bahrain that provides insight into ancient Gulf trade networks and ritual practices, as well as a Neolithic statue-menhir from Western Europe representing one of the earliest forms of human sculpture.
Spanning multiple galleries, the tour begins with the civilizations of the Gulf before tracing artistic developments through the classical, modern, and contemporary periods. The featured works illustrate the evolution of artistic expression across different eras while highlighting shared cultural themes that connect civilizations worldwide.
