Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on Thursday maintained that he has not violated any law as he addressed reports of a supposed arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against him.
In a statement, Go said he is entrusting the matter to God and expressed hope that the issue would not be politicized.
“Ipinagpapasa-Diyos ko na lamang po ang lahat. Buong buhay ko, wala po akong nilabag na anumang batas ng tao o batas ng Diyos,” Go said.
“Police matters have never been part of my mandate. I hope and pray na hindi mapupulitika ang issue hinggil sa sinasabing ICC warrant daw laban sa akin,” he added.
The statement came after Davao City Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte claimed that the ICC had issued arrest warrants against Go and two former police officers.
Last month, former senator Sonny Trillanes also claimed he had received information that an arrest warrant may have been issued against Go, allegedly identifying him as a co-conspirator of former president Rodrigo Duterte in connection with crimes against humanity allegations before the ICC.
The Department of Justice, however, said it has not received any official communication from the ICC regarding an alleged arrest warrant against Go.
Other government agencies, including the Department of the Interior and Local Government, the Philippine National Police, and the National Bureau of Investigation, have likewise said they have no information confirming the existence of such a warrant.
Go said he remains focused on his duties as a senator despite the allegations.
“Umasa po kayo na patuloy lang ako sa aking pagseserbisyo, dahil ‘yan ang kailangan ngayon ng ating kapwa Pilipino,” he said.
“Hindi ko sasayangin ang tiwalang ibinigay sa akin ng 27 milyong Pilipino,” he added.
