Bato dela Rosa’s NBI escape turned into online game

The dramatic Senate escape of Senator Ronald dela Rosa from National Bureau of Investigation operatives has now been transformed into a viral online game.

Independent developer and TikTok user Jopel created “Senate Run,” a parody endless runner game inspired by the events inside the Senate earlier this month involving Dela Rosa.

The side-scrolling game, similar to Flappy Bird and Jetpack Joyride, features an avatar resembling the senator running through the Senate building while dodging NBI agents and slip hazard signs.

The game quickly gained attention online, earning more than 150,000 likes on TikTok shortly after it was uploaded.

The parody references the May 11 incident where Dela Rosa was seen leaving the Senate amid tensions surrounding the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court.

Dela Rosa is wanted by the ICC over allegations linked to his role in former president Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs campaign.

The senator’s whereabouts remain unknown after he left the Senate premises while under protective custody.

If arrested, Dela Rosa could join Duterte, who is currently under ICC custody facing crimes against humanity charges connected to the anti-drug campaign carried out during his administration.

The game has since become one of the latest examples of how political events in the Philippines are quickly transformed into memes and viral internet culture.
