PNP deploys tracker teams to locate, arrest Bato dela Rosa

The Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed that tracker teams have been deployed to locate and serve the arrest warrant against Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.

In a statement, the PNP said Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. has ordered the mobilization of tracker teams in coordination with the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to ensure the implementation of the warrant.

Nartatez directed all concerned police units to strictly observe operational procedures and uphold human rights in carrying out the arrest order.

“The PNP operates strictly under the rule of law. I have issued clear instructions to all local and specialized units that any enforcement action concerning Senator Dela Rosa must be executed with absolute transparency, full adherence to police operational procedures, and the utmost respect for human rights,” he said.

He added that the police force will enforce the warrant “professionally” and “without political bias,” stressing that operational discipline remains a priority.

“Our mandate is clear but I am emphasizing to our personnel that operational discipline is paramount. There will be no shortcuts and every movement will be heavily aligned with existing protocols to protect constitutional rights and maintain public trust,” Nartatez said.

Once arrested, Dela Rosa will be turned over to the DOJ, which earlier ordered his arrest.

Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida earlier said the PNP and NBI have been directed to implement the warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in connection with the Duterte administration’s drug war.

Nartatez also said the PNP has not received any request for protective custody from the senator.

“As of now, wala siyang hinihiling na protective custody,” he said in an ambush interview.

He added that seeking protective custody has not been officially raised with authorities.

The PNP earlier said it has intensified monitoring at all exit points, including southern backdoor routes, to determine Dela Rosa’s whereabouts. Coordination with the Bureau of Immigration showed no record of foreign travel by the senator as of Thursday.
