Trump warns U.S. forces will stay near Iran, threatens renewed strikes

U.S. President Donald Trump said American military ships, aircraft and personnel will remain stationed in and around Iran until Tehran fully complies with its agreement with Washington.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said additional ammunition and weaponry would stay in place until what he described as the “real agreement” is fully carried out.

He also warned that if Iran fails to comply, the United States would resume military action.

“If for any reason it is not, which is highly unlikely, then the ‘Shootin’ Starts,’ bigger, and better, and stronger than anyone has ever seen before,” Trump said.

The warning came after Iran said it would be “unreasonable” to continue talks on a permanent peace deal with the United States following Israel’s heaviest strikes yet on Lebanon, which reportedly killed hundreds.

The two sides also remain divided on Iran’s nuclear program. Trump said Iran had agreed to stop enriching uranium, while Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammed Bager Qalibaf insisted Tehran would still be allowed to continue uranium enrichment under the ceasefire terms.

Trump also reiterated that Iran must not acquire nuclear weapons and said the Strait of Hormuz “will be open and safe.”
