Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Al Mazrouei said the UAE has sufficient and diversified energy sources to meet all domestic needs, even amid regional instability, assuring residents and businesses of reliable energy supply.
Speaking to a local media, Al Mazrouei highlighted the country’s balanced energy mix, including peaceful nuclear power, substantial solar investments, and other sources, which positions the UAE strongly compared with other countries in the region.
“We want to reassure our citizens and residents that they are in safe hands,” he said. “We carry the responsibility of ensuring their energy needs are met.”
Al Mazrouei criticized Iran for closing the Strait of Hormuz, calling it an act of “piracy” against the global economy, not just the Gulf. He warned that any disruption to this vital maritime corridor, a key artery for global energy flows, has serious consequences for energy-importing nations.
The UAE is engaging internationally to advocate for reopening the strait while participating in OPEC+ discussions to maintain global energy supplies. However, the minister noted that Iran’s blockade complicates these efforts and strains supply chains.
Al Mazrouei also praised the UAE Armed Forces for demonstrating the country’s readiness and strength during these challenges. He emphasized that the UAE remains one of the safest countries in the world, with strong infrastructure built over years providing resilience, adaptability, and the ability to move forward amid crises.
“The infrastructure we have built over the years gives us the ability to endure, adapt and move forward,” he said.
