Ajman urges residents to take health precautions after rainfall

The Ajman Government Media Office has urged residents to follow health and safety measures after recent rainfall, warning of possible health risks linked to stagnant water and increased mosquito activity.

Authorities advised the public to avoid contact with standing water, which may contain contaminants and bacteria. Residents were also reminded to take extra precautions when cleaning flooded areas and to ensure that food items have not been exposed to floodwater.

The office called on residents to dry areas where water has collected to help prevent the spread of insects and fungi. It also advised the public to avoid outdoor activities in locations considered high-risk.

Officials warned that recent rains could lead to a rise in mosquito activity. Residents were encouraged to apply insect repellent on exposed skin, wear long-sleeved clothing, and avoid going outdoors during peak mosquito hours, especially at dawn and dusk.

The public was further advised to make sure window and door screens are properly installed, remove standing water around their homes, use mosquito control devices or insecticides when needed, and keep outdoor areas clean.

Authorities said anyone experiencing symptoms such as fever, skin rashes, or joint pain after insect bites should seek medical attention immediately.
