A court in Al Ain has ordered a woman to pay Dh20,000 in compensation for violating the privacy of a teenager after filming and publishing her images on social media without consent.
The case was filed by the child’s guardian, who sought damages over the harm caused by the unauthorized recording and online sharing of the images.
Court records showed the defendant had already been convicted in a related criminal case, where she was fined and ordered to pay temporary compensation.
The court ruled that the woman’s actions constituted a clear breach of privacy, noting that publishing the images without parental consent caused both emotional and material harm.
Authorities reiterated that sharing photos or videos of individuals—especially minors—without permission is a violation of the law and may result in penalties.
