CAAP assures adequate fuel reserves in airports amid rising fuel costs

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines said airports across the country have sufficient fuel reserves to ensure uninterrupted operations despite rising fuel prices linked to the Middle East conflict.

CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio said diesel supplies are in place to power generator sets used as backup electricity sources in case of power interruptions.

He added that these reserves are rarely used but are fully prepared to support airport operations if needed.

While airlines continue to have adequate fuel supply, Apolonio noted that some carriers are expected to reduce flights in the coming months due to higher fuel surcharges and declining passenger demand.

Authorities said the aviation sector remains prepared to manage potential disruptions while ensuring safe and continuous airport operations nationwide.
