The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) has announced that most parts of the country, including Metro Manila be placed under Alert Level 1 until the end of the month.

According to the IATF, 56 out of the total 82 provinces will be under Alert Level 1, while the remaining 26 other areas will be classified under Alert Level 2.

In an advisory released by the Makati Medical Center (MMC) on Sunday, Medical Director Saturnino Javier noted that: “The Emergency Department (ED) does not experience any major influx of Covid-19 patients. Most cases are mild Covid-19.”

“Overall, the situation matches the reported prevailing increase in Covid-19 cases in the community. However, the increase in cases is not accompanied by increased numbers of hospitalization and/or severe and critical Covid-19 cases. There is no ED surge that threatens to overwhelm MMC,” Javier added.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health has clarified that the 26 provinces under Alert Level 2 for the rest of April were not escalated from Alert Level 1, “rather, these have maintained their Alert Level 2 status since June 2022.”
