President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. commended teachers around the country on Wednesday for their “invaluable service” to the country, particularly as face-to-face sessions resumed.
In his message on National Teachers’ Day, Marcos urged Filipinos to recognize teachers’ “sacrifices” in shaping children and preparing them to attain their goals.
“Today, we honor our dear educators across the country for ensuring our youth’s holistic development as they aspire to be agents of change within their respective communities and beyond,” said Marcos.
“This is also a good opportunity to express our sincerest appreciation for their invaluable service to the nation as we safely reopen our schools and bring forth a new era of learning amidst the post-pandemic world,” he added.
In the Philippines, National Teachers’ Month (NTM) is observed from September 5 to October 5 to commemorate teachers and recognize their dedication to producing globally-minded individuals, nurturing families, strengthening communities, and building the nation.
Per Proclamation No. 242, series of 2011, the country began its commemoration of the NTM.
The 2022 NTM will culminate on October 5, which also happens to be National Teachers’ Day and World Teachers’ Day.
