Sharjah Police warns the public that vehicles and motorists that generate too much noise will be fined.
Breaking the 95-decibel sound barrier limit will attract a fine of AED 2,000 and get a person 12 black points
Under Article 20 of the Federal Traffic Law, a person’s vehicle could even be confiscated for up to six months.

To enforce the law, Sharjah Police have also intensified inspections against modified cars and reckless drivers following a spate of complaints.
According to the residents of Al Dhaid, Al Madam and Al Badayer these areas and other parts of the Emirate have seen increasing levels of noise pollution.
The reckless drivers are also known to be a source of noise in residential areas and have in the past endangered their own lives and those of others on the road.
Commander-in-chief of the Sharjah Police, Major-General Saif Al Zeri Al Shamsi, said stunts performed by drivers on the roads and the noise pollution was a cause of concern among residents of several neighborhoods in the central region.

Action will be initiated against those who modify their engines, silencers, and horns and drive dangerously on internal roads.
The police have also stepped up patrols in areas frequented by reckless drivers to ensure the safety of residents.
Al Shamsi said police have also installed special radars to capture audio and video and measure the audio decibels of passing cars and fine vehicles that cross the sound limit. (AW)
