President Rodrigo Duterte has warned illegal recruiters anew.
In a recorded speech aired on Tuesday, Duterte lamented that widespread crime that victimizes plenty of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
“Itong illegal recruitment, this is a widespread crime committed by different people. Nakikita natin ang victims na kawawa, dumating sa ibang bayan parang natulala. Di nila malaman paano nangyari ‘yan,” he said in a speech.
“Sa totoo lang, gusto ko patayin mga ‘to… sa ginagawa nila sa kapwa tao nila, mawalan na ng pera, mapunta pa ng bayan, makulong dun kasi illegal e, fake, falsified, fraud na di naman nila kasalanan,” Duterte added.
In the same speech, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello assured that the government is doing its best to protect the plight of migrant workers.
