At least 1,000 Filipino seafarers aboard the MV Norwegian Encore ship are now under mandatory quarantine in Manila port.
The ship docked in the country last April 11 bringing home the repatriated seafarers.
The seafarers, who underwent profiling from the Department of Health, are currently being closely monitored by the Bureau of Quarantine.
They will be tested on their sixth day, as part of the government’s COVID-19 protocols.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has so far repatriated over 300,000 overseas Filipino workers due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Of this number, 30 percent or around 95,000 OFWs were Filipino seafarers.
The company of the seafarers vowed to recruit them again in November.
