Travelers to Dubai still required to get GDRFA approval—reports

The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) has revoked its earlier decision to lift entry permit for travelers holding visas issued in Dubai, according to various local reports.

Those outside the country who want to fly to Dubai must obtain approval from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA).

Only Abu Dhabi and Sharjah residents, who are outside the country and want to travel back to the UAE, will not be required to secure permit to enter Abu Dhabi and Sharjah airports.

The UAE put two entry permit systems for residents returning to the UAE. One for residents of Dubai, and a federal one for those living in the rest of the UAE, according to The National.

However, ICA advised them to update their data via uaeentry.ica.gov.ae for validation prior to their flight, as per a separate report of Gulf News Today.

Aside from the mandatory PCR test with negative result of maximum 96 hours, residents will have to undergo a 14-day-quarantie or 7 days for vital jobs, in addition to installing Al Hosn applications, ICA was quoted to have said.
