UAE Vice President receives credentials of new Philippine ambassador to UAE

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, received on Feb. 6 the credentials of 16 new ambassadors to the UAE.

The new envoys included the new Philippine ambassador to the UAE, Alfonso Ferdinand A. Ver.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed welcomed the new ambassadors and expressed his hope that they would contribute to furthering the strong relations between the UAE and their respective countries.

The Vice President assured them of all the support needed to perform their duties, as part of the country’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation.

Ver was sworn in by Pres. Bongbong Marcos in December 2022.

Prior to his post, he served as assistant secretary of the Office of Middle East and African Affairs prior to his post.

He also served as ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain from 2015-2021 and Consul then Deputy Consul General at the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco, United States from July 2009 to September 2012.

His first foreign assignment was as Vice Consul, then promoted to Consul, at the Philippine Consulate General in Guam from 1996 to 2002.

Ambassador Ver was a member of Philippine delegations to various international meetings, conferences and missions throughout his diplomatic career.

  • Babacar Matar Ndiaye, Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal;
  • Guy Ibrahim Membourou, Ambassador of the Republic of Gabon;
  • Sorayut Chasombat, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand;
  • Avondale Paul, Ambassador of the Commonwealth of Dominica;
  • Ivan Jordanov, Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria;
  • Udaya Indrarathna, Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka;
  • Norberto Escalona Carrillo, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba;
  • Younos Abdul Karim, Ambassador of the Republic of Malawi;
  • Yin Bon, Ambassador of the Union of Myanmar.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid highlighted the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in enhancing collaboration with all friendly nations.
