A pregnant passenger of the Saudi Arabian Airlines went into labor and delivered her baby on board a flight from Saudi Arabia to the Philippines.
The plane was not able to make an emergency landing because it was already cruising at a high altitude and the situation was urgent.
The cabin crew called for help and found that an obstetrics and gynecology consultant in a hospital in Riyadh was on board. Dr. Jan Saret attempted to stall the labor until the plane could land but the complications could have endangered both the mother and the child.
The passenger called her childbirth an “incredible experience,” reported the Saudi Gazette.
According to the mother, she did not plan to deliver her baby “above the clouds,” but her contractions worsened with every minute.
She thanked the doctor for making her feel safe and delivering her baby even without complete medical paraphernalia.
