One of the world’s biggest makeup brands, MAC Cosmetics, released a statement Wednesday night that they will no longer be working with Kuwaiti blogger Sondos Al Qattan after the latter made remarks about Filipino domestic workers.
The National quoted MAC Cosmetics as saying that the Kuwaiti blogger’s “views are her own” and that they “wish to make it clear that [they] do not support the beliefs recently expressed by her.”
Earlier this week, American haircare brand Phyto deemed Al-Qattan’s remarks as “unacceptable” and said that the brand “condemn[s] the remarks as they go against the human values defended by the group.”
Another Japanese brand, Shiseido, also expressed their disappointment over al-Qattan’s comments.
Meanwhile, Max Factor Arabia has also ended their relationship with the blogger as her comments “are personal and do not represent either the values or the principles” of their brand.
London-based Chelsea Beautique and French perfume brand M. Micallef have announced that they are ending their relationship with Al-Qattan for her comments questioning the new law protecting the rights of OFWs in Kuwait.
