Eid Al Fitr likely to fall on June 15 in UAE

Authorities at the Sharjah Planetarium have released predictions regarding the exact date of the first day of Eid Al Fitr in the UAE.

Ebrahim Al Jarwan, General Supervisor at Sharjah Planetarium, said that Eid Al Fitr, which marks the end of the Ramadan season, is expected to start on June 15, Friday, in the UAE.

Al Jarwan will be monitoring the moon starting June 13 to see if the moon marking the end of the Ramadan season will appear, but as early as now, he said that they “expect to definitely see it after the sunset of June 14”, marking the first day of the Eid Al Fitr, Gulf News reported.

If this date is to be followed, Eid Al Adha, or The Feast of Sacrifice, will likely fall on August 22.

Eid Al Fitr is the “feast of breaking the fast” done during the Ramadan, while the Eid Al Adha marks the end of the Hajj or the holy pilgrimage of Muslims in Mecca.
