President Rodrigo Duterte is set to meet 2,500 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Hongkong after his participation at the Boao Forum for Asia in Hainan, China.
He will be meeting the OFWs before he leaves for Davao on Thursday night, hoping to hear their concerns and to express his support for these workers who leave their families behind to provide a better future for them, reported GMA.
Before leaving for China, Duterte said that informing the Filipino community regarding the developments in the country is part of his agenda.
This isn’t the first time Duterte will meet with the Filipino community in Hongkong. He also met with several OFWs in Hongkong during his first work visit there.
President Rodrigo Duterte arrived in Hongkong on Tuesday night after attending the regional economic forum and bilateral meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Hainan.
According to the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), Duterte landed at the Hongkong International Airport on April 10 at 11:34 pm.
He was welcomed by Philippine Consul General in Hong Kong Antonio Morales and Deputy Consul General Roderico Atienza.
