The Department of Labor and Employment – Bureau of Local Employment (DOLE-BLE) announced that they will organize a job fair for Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and fresh graduates of K-to-12 program.
DOLE-BLE director Dominique Tutay said that priority lanes will be provided for OFWs who want to seek local job opportunities.
A special lane is also provided for OFWs affected by the deployment ban to Kuwait. The OFWs will also undergo trainings, free of charge.
“Karamihan ng nanggaling sa Kuwait ay mga household service workers kaya naisip po namin na bigyan sila ng training opportunies,” Tutay said.
According to Tutay, more than 10,000 positions await skilled workers in the construction industry.
Despite the lower compensation, DOLE-BLE reminded OFWs that money cannot buy the opportunity to live with their families here in the country.
Meanwhile, job openings will also be available for first batch graduates of the K-to-12 program.
“Halimbawa… the call center agent, ‘yan regardless of age, puwede sila ng high school graduate. Importante na maging open-minded po ‘yong ating jobseekers. Gawin nila ito bilang isang oportunidad para mahasa nang husto ang kanilang skills,” Tutay said.
The job fair will be held on March 26 at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City. More than 50 employers are expected to join the activity.
