Police officers literally lay down their lives as a part of their job, and it’s the life that their families also sign up for.
Having a child and raising a family has always been Sanny Liu’s dream. She’s the wife of a New York police detective Wen Jian Liu who died in the line of duty two and a half years ago. And so her plan of having children came to a screeching halt.
Through the wonders of in-vitro fertilization, Sanny gave birth on July 25 to a beautiful baby girl named Angelina, New York Police Department shared in a post on Facebook.
Sanny asked doctors to freeze her husband’s sperm in the hopes of fulfilling their dream to have a child.
“I told my friend, ‘It’s going to be a baby girl.’ My friend said, ‘No, you haven’t even checked the sonograms,’ but I was right!” she said in the statement.
Detective Liu’s parents, Wei Tang Liu and Xiu Yan Li, were also in attendance at Weill Cornell Hospital to celebrate the birth of their granddaughter.
Sanny promised to tell her daughter stories about her father, who died a hero. She also can’t wait to introduce her little angel to her father’s big blue family, the NY Police Department.
