US High Court restores Trump’s travel ban

The United States Supreme Court has sided with the administration’s immigration policy by reinstating parts of US President Donald Trump’s travel ban.

The ban will go in effect for foreign nationals who lack “bona fide relationship with any person or entity in the United States”, according to the court’s ruling.

People with strong ties to the United States include students accepted to US universities and employees accepted for a job with a US company, the court said.

The court bars people from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen with no such ties to enter the US for 90 days and refugees for 120 days.

The implementation will move forward 72 hours after the court ruling.

The Department of Homeland Security and the State Department pledged to implement the decision in a professional manner.

“We will keep those traveling to the United States and partners in the travel industry informed as we implement the order in a professional, organized, and timely way,” a State Department spokeswoman said as reported by ABS-CBN News.
