There are tell-tale signs a relationship is about to end. If you’re in a long-distance relationship, the impending doom may come as a surprise.
Someone in a relationship would often know if his or her partner has been a bit emotionally distant lately, but things are a little harder when actual distance separates you and your guy or girl.
Absence is supposed to make the heart grow fonder, so watch of out for the red flags below.
1) Forever offline
If you’re in a committed long-distance relationship, the little interaction that you get through channels of communication is considered sacred time. In the Internet era, this usually happens online. If your partner seems to forget your dates via Skype or wherever you usually update each other through, then a longer chat is needed to tackle the issue the next time he does show up. Of course, there could be other legitimate reasons for his sudden disappearance. But if that becomes routine, that is a serious red flag.
2) He or she is less excited about your visits
This could also be the other way around: If he intends to visit you and you’re not excited, you might also want to check up on your own emotions.
3) No more plans, surprise gifts
Because of the lack of zest in your interactions, you or your partner may be losing the romantic will to plan for the next vacation or surprise the other through what used to be carefully devised schemes with his or her flatmates. Instead, you or your partner would rather spend your extra money for yourself than the other.
4) Gut instinct
As with all matters of the heart, your gut is usually a strong indicator of whether you’re sailing rough waters in your relationship with someone.
5) Other people know more
If your friend’s neighbor’s brother’s sister knows more than you when it comes to updates about your partner, then you have to wonder why you’re not getting the information first-hand.
6) Your friends are telling you it’s not worth it
Of course, your relationship is a private matter. But the people close to you can usually sense when something is not right. Listen to the people around you when almost all of them say you’re wasting your time.
7) More bad memories than good
When the fights become all too common instances in your relationship, it can be an energy drainer on your part. Even if you have a stock of good memories with your partner, know how to reasonably weigh your options.
