Quick guide: Steps and requirements for DFA document authentication

PROCEDURE
1. Fill out application form (maximum of 5 documents per application form)

2. Present a valid ID upon submission of the documents to the processing window.

3. Pay appropriate authentication fee (P100 per document to the cashier)

4. Claim the authenticated document on the release date by presenting the machine validated receipt at the releasing window.

ADVISORY
Disposal of unclaimed Documents after three(3) months from date of release, according to the official website of the Department of Foreign Affairs.

In Addition, regardless of affinity, an applicant may send an authorized representative to apply on his behalf.

Authorized representative must have a valid ID and has to present a signed authorization letter or SPA from the applicant, a photocopy of applicant’s ID bearing his signature, and a photocopy of the authorized representative’s ID.

According to the Authentication Rules and Regulations (ARR) of the Department of Foreign Affairs, beginning 21 March 2016, an authorized representative is only allowed to process and claim documents on behalf of the owner provided that he/she presents the following:

i. His/her own government issued identification card and a photocopy thereof;
ii. A Special Power of Attorney (SPA) from the owner of the document; and
iii. A copy of the applicant’s passport or a copy of any identification card bearing the signature of the applicant.

However, a representative is limited to file and/or claim documents of only 10 applicants per week. Further, the SPA must indicate the name of the representative.
1. Issued within Regions I, II, III and CAR.
2. Issued within the NCR, Regions I, II, III and CAR.
3. In case the document needs further verification, the applicant is advised to file at Authentication Division, Aseana Building, corner Bradco Ave., Macapagal Blvd. Parañaque City.
4. Liaison Officers of Recruitment Agencies are not allowed to transact authentication services at any Regional Consular Office (RCO)
