Bahrain says air defenses intercepted Iranian aerial attacks

Bahrain said its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed several Iranian aerial attacks on Monday, accusing Tehran of continuing to target civilians and civilian property in the kingdom.

In a statement, the General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force said the attacks formed part of what it described as Iran’s “systematic hostility” against Bahrain.

The military said its air defense units remain on the highest level of readiness to protect the country against further threats.

Authorities urged citizens and residents to avoid approaching any suspicious or unfamiliar objects that may have resulted from the attacks and to immediately report them to authorities.

The Bahrain Defence Force said its Royal Field Engineering Unit has been placed on full alert to safely recover and dispose of any missile or drone debris.

Bahrain also condemned the attacks, accusing Iran of deliberately targeting civilians and private property and describing the use of missiles and drones as a violation of international humanitarian law.
