The Department of Migrant Workers said it continues to repatriate overseas Filipino workers affected by renewed tensions in the Middle East and assured Filipinos abroad that assistance remains available.
As of July, the DMW said 10,580 overseas Filipino workers, overseas Filipinos and their dependents have been safely repatriated from conflict-affected areas, including the latest group of 50 repatriates from Kuwait who arrived in the Philippines this week.
DMW Undersecretary Felicitas Bay said repatriation operations remain ongoing, although the number of requests has declined compared with the peak periods in April and May.
“We still have ongoing repatriation. The numbers are lower than during April and May, but we continue our repatriation efforts,” Bay said during a press briefing.
The DMW said it continues to coordinate with Migrant Workers Offices across the Gulf Cooperation Council member states to respond to repatriation requests and address the welfare concerns of Filipino workers.
The agency also urged OFWs in affected areas to remain in safe locations, follow the directives of host governments and rely only on official advisories issued by Philippine embassies, Migrant Workers Offices and other government agencies.
