The Dubai Criminal Court issued 10-year imprisonment for an African woman to be followed by deportation and fined her AED 50,000 for her foiled attempt of smuggling narcotics.
The woman was detained after she attempted to smuggle 180g narcotics at Dubai airport.
Court records showed a customs inspector detected a suspicious item at the suitcase of the visitor prompting them to inspect her luggage.

Scanner detected thin items inside her belongings, according to the officer.
The inspector then asked the woman if she had any prohibited items or materials that she wanted to declared.
The inspectors conducted an inspection and found three rolls of cocaine at the bottom of baggage.

The visitor denied knowledge about the items found in her suitcase adding that she bought it a day before flying to Dubai.
Her case was then referred to the Dubai Prosecution and she was sentenced for committing the illegal act. (RA)
