Philippines donates goods to China amid novel coronavirus outbreak

In what could be a show of stronger ties between the Philippines and China, the Duterte administration has extended help to the Chinese government amid the 2019 novel coronavirus outbreak.

In a turn over event in Clark, Pampanga, Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian received the aid from Philippine officials to Hubei Province, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak.

“This is not only the fight of China, this is the battle of the region and beyond,” Ambassador Xilian said in a press conference.

“On behalf of the Chinese gov’t and people, I would like to thank again the Philippine gov’t, the people of the Philippines, and the donors for this very kind gesture and support,” he added.

DFA Undersecretary Brigido Dulay said that the Philippines donated 52 boxes containing “assorted goods and care packages” to the people of Hubei.
