In order to avoid communities with persons infected with the novel coronavirus, Chinese nationals have opted to use mapping programs and travel trackers, Reuters reported.
QuantUrban, a data mapping company, created a program to collect information about neighborhoods and confirmed cases of 2019 novel coronavirus acute respiraroty disease or nCoV ARD.
The other program is the WeChat, on the other hand, is a third party mini-program developer.
Both platforms gather data on confirmed cases and their geographical location to gauge if the users are close to these communities.
The WeChat program, called “YiKuang” or “Epidemic Situation,” covers Shenzhen and Guangzhou in the south while QuantUrban’s browser-based maps cover nine other cities in the Guangdong province.
Confirmed cases in Shenzhen has reached at least 245 cases as of Monday, and is considered the worst-affected of China’s main cities, namely; Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
The Yikuang relies on volunteers to keep to provide timely and updated information.
