A Filipina scientist has received a prestigious award from the The National Metrology Institute (NMI) of Japan due to her contribution to the field of metrolog.
Among 16 other countries, Dr. Benilda S. Ebarvia bagged the prestigious 2019 Developing Economies National Metrology Institute (DEN) Award which was awarded by Dr. Toshiyuki Takatsuji, of the National Metrology Institute (NMI) of Japan and chair of the Asia Pacific Metrology Program (APMP), in a recent ceremony held in at Le Montage in Sydney, Australia, Manila Bulletin repprted.
She is the first Filipino to receive such honor. She was awarded due to her effort for the establishment of the Metrology in Chemistry (MiC) at NML-ITDI; she also helped raise funds for its operations.
Ebarvia also spread awareness of metrology among stakeholders in the country.
The APMP established the DEN Award in November, 2010 to highlight contributions from and to recognize outstanding achievements of an individual from APMP’s 17 member economies in advancing metrology efforts in their country and or within the Asia Pacific Region.
