Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III has advised Filipinos to postpone their trips to Hong Kong amid ongoing violent protests in the Chinese territory.
“Mayroon kaming advisory, this is also joined by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) na ‘yung mga pupunta sa Hong Kong, kung hindi naman masyado kailangan ang pagpunta nila doon ay i-postpone muna dahil this is not the best time to go to Hong Kong,” Bello told GMA News.
The Labor chief meantime said overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are safe despite the ongoing street clashes between protesters and government forces.
“The situation is worsening but I’m very happy to say na wala pang nadadamay na Filipino overseas worker. Wala pang humihingi ng repatriation,” the Labor Chief added
The Hong Kong protests has been raging on for months now since March.
