Chiong sisters’ parents fail to get audience with PRRD in Cebu

CEBU — After hours of waiting, the parents of rape-slay victims Chiong sisters failed to get a chance meeting with President Duterte yesterday at an event in Naga City, Cebu.

Thelma Chiong and husband Dionisio, already senior citizens, arrived noontime ahead of the scheduled arrival of the President at 4 p.m. Friday, September 6.

When the President arrived they tried to get in touch with the President when he went towards the crowd outside of the cordon to no avail. Thelma said there were so many guards.

Their disappointment turned to shock and disbelief upon hearing the speech of the President.

Duterte praised Ex-Bureau of Corrections chief Nicanor Faeldon being an “upright person.”

“I was shocked sa speech sa Presidente. Hala after sinibak niya si Faeldon, all praises naman siya sa Naga,” Thelma said. “Nag walk out na ako from the beginning sa praises niya kay Faeldon. Maraming galit kay Faeldon at isa na ako diyan.”

“Ako I’m a Duterte fan, marami ako naka away dahil Duterte talaga ako. For him to defend Faeldon dahil friend niya, dapat hindi nalang siya nagsalita,” Thelma added. “Si Faeldon pinalaya ang mga criminal sa death row. Marami na nga’ng kriminal sa atin, maraming patayan araw-araw, tapos yung nasa loob ng Muntinlupa, pina laya pa niya. That is not good. That is not justice”

Thelma said she was “more than dissapointed” at the President although she was still thankful that Duterte ordered the return of the freed convicts into the New Bilibid Prison.

Though they missed an encounter with Duterte, Thelma said that they were able to talk with Senator Bong Go who made assurances that the freed convicts will be brought back to Muntinlupa.

The Chiong couple also relayed to Go to thank the President for ordering the surrender of freed convicts.
