PRIMER: Over sixty million Filipinos nationwide and worldwide are expected to cast their ballots to vote for 12 senators, one partylist representative, and 18,000 local and provincial positions.
The 2019 midterm elections is widely seen as a referendum on the performance of President Duterte, whose popularity remained high at 79 percent despite criticism on his brash demeanor, foreign policy shift in favor of China, and his most controversial violent anti-drug war.
Around 62 percent of the registered voters are Millenials, Gen Z, and Generation X–aged 18-44 years old.
Over 2.3 million of the 61 million qualified voters are new voters who registered last year.
