A woman has been ordered to pay Dh7,000 in compensation after verbally abusing a senior school administrator during a meeting at a private school, a court in Abu Dhabi has ruled.
The Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Claims Court found that the woman’s actions caused moral and psychological harm to the school’s head of administration, who was insulted in front of his colleagues while performing his official duties.
Court records showed that the administrator filed a civil case seeking Dh50,000 in compensation for material, moral, and emotional damages, along with legal expenses. He told the court that the woman entered a workplace meeting without notice and directed abusive and insulting remarks at him and others present.
The incident led to criminal proceedings and resulted in a penal order against the woman. The claimant said the confrontation caused humiliation, harmed his professional reputation, and contributed to the termination of his employment at the school managed by the defendant.
According to evidence reviewed by the court, including police reports and prosecution findings, the incident occurred during a meeting to discuss preparations for a student celebration with an estimated budget of Dh300,000. The woman allegedly interrupted the discussion and addressed those present with offensive language that was clearly audible to everyone in the room.
The court ruled that the remarks constituted an attack on dignity and personal reputation, amounting to contempt and humiliation. It noted that the woman did not deny the incident and that her conduct was established through official records and the penal order issued by the public prosecution.
While the court did not grant the full amount of compensation sought, it concluded that the administrator had suffered genuine moral harm, including emotional distress and humiliation. The woman was ordered to pay Dh7,000 in compensation, as well as court fees and related costs.
