(WAM) – The local authorities notified the public of fraudulent activities that used the authority’s name and logo.
The Federal Customs Authority (FCA) warned the public about fraudulent activities that used the authority’s name, logo and including well-known local authorities to defraud the public within UAE, Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and Arab countries, in a report by Emirates News Agency.
They monitored local and international attempts on social media by creating fake competitions, fake emails that offered prizes such as luxury cars fin exchange or fees amounting to US$5,000.
They stressed it would undertake the needed legal procedures to stop the illegal activities.
FCA urged the public who received such messages that they must not respond while reporting them to the authorities such as the FCA website or social media pages.
The FCA also advised members of the public to avoid any communication with the fraudster or refrain from opening messages which contained the links.
