INITIAL RESULTS: Over 100 OFWs got Offer Letters at Bayanihan Festival 2019 Job Fair

DUBAI: As reports start to come in, organizers of last weekend’s Bayanihan Festival 2019 Job Fair said over 100 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) have so far been able to secure Offer Letters.
Lance Japor, head of the organizing committee told The Filipino Times that among those who received official offer are some 62 OFWs to be hired by two food and beverage companies; four nurses also got jobs; while a hypermart chain also took in five cashiers.
One of UAE’s reputable Filipino schools was able to shortlist two teacher applicants up for a teaching demo this week.
“We are still putting together a compilation of those who received Offer Letters. There were two hotels as well, and companies from Al Ain,” Japor said.

The job fair was held at Hamarain Centre on Abu Baker Al Siddique Road in Muraqqabat where, organizers said, over 4,000 OFWs gravitated to, some as early as 4am, and others arriving from Abu Dhabi and Ras AL Khaimah.

A total 14 of companies with approximately 500 multiple vacancies participated in the job fair, organizers said.

Meantime, Rio Mejia, a 32-year-old NCU nurse who was hired on the spot, was visibly overjoyed. “Sobrang tuwa ko po nung sabihin sa akin na I’m qualified for the position of home care nurse and that I can join right away. It’s a big help sa amin na matagal na rin naghihintay ng mapapasukan ulit,” she said.

“Our team was totally impressed with this initiative to gather companies of different industries to provide jobs to the Filipino community. In return, it was a convenient process for us to meet applicants who have already been pre-screened by competitive HR professionals. It would be great to give appreciation to this service and the efforts of these volunteers who truly care for the community,” for her part, said Merdiza Zapanta, International Marketing Executive of GCD Facility Management.

Professional assistance from The United Filipino Human Resource Professionals (TUFHR) and support from i12wrk The Job Market app also played an important role in the job fair’s success.
The Bayanihan Job Fair 2019 was fully supported by the Philippine Consulate General of Dubai and the Northern Emirates and one of the pre-events of Barrio Fiesta Bayanihan Festival 2019 in partnership with The Filipino Channel which will bring joyful festivities and lots of surprises to the community on Dec. 6, 2019 at Zabeel Park C.
